las alpujarras

this is an area near granada with the same kind of vibe as cinque terra in italy... a bunch of tiny towns clinging to the sides of mountains. this area is known for its water- the good kind that is bottled and shipped all over the world in lanjáron as well as the bad iron tasting fuente agria in potrugos (picture 2). the jamón in this area is also a big export. other handmade goods here include rugs, baskets, and leather. my favorite of all the pueblos was capileira, the highest of them. from here we took a quick hike into the mountains and saw some incredible views. it was so nice to be out of the city and into the quiet and fresh air of the mountains. i sincerely hope to come back here with more time to hike. my camera batteries ran out before we got here so sorry that you can´t see how beautiful it was. these were taken on the way up.
